Oak Park, 2021, Residential
We like to say architecture doesn't stop at the walls of the home. Strong architectural pathways softened by layered, native and low-maintenance perennials lead to a series of outdoor living rooms. A mahogany bridge over a water feature combined with calming sounds of flowing water and sparkles of light lead to a covered outdoor dining room. This 'midwest room' is designed to enhance outdoor living in our climate for a family who loves to host. A heavy timber structure provides shade and protection from rain, while a limestone-clad outdoor fireplace provides warmth and light and extends the use of the space to early spring and late fall. The fragrant plant selection, low maintenance, shaded and sunny, comfortable seating areas combine to create a restful place for this family to share with others.
